The Ultimate Guide to Pilatus PC-12 Specs

Comfort, convenience, and luxury.

Single turboprop aircraft on evening runway after sunset-These are just some of the advantages of flying on a private plane.

However, not all private aircraft are made equal. Many people who are not familiar with flying private assume that a jet is the best option for their private charter needs. However, in many cases a jet is actually not ideal because of costs and other limitations.

At Tampa Bay Air Charter, the Pilatus PC-12 is our preferred aircraft. That’s because it’s one of the most powerful yet efficient planes of its type. In this article, we’ll explain why. Read on to find out all about the Pilatus PC-12 specs.

A Breakdown of the Pilatus PC-12 Specs

Here’s what this versatile aircraft has to offer. Take a ride with us through its specs below.

Size

The Pilatus PC-12 has an exterior height of 14 feet, a length of 47 feet 3 inches, and a wingspan of 53 feet 3 inches.

The pressurized passenger cabin is 330 cubic feet in size, and there’s 40-cubic-feet space for baggage that’s accessible while you’re in flight.

Safety

The Pilatus PC-12 is powered by a single Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 turboprop engine. This is considered an extremely safe and reliable engine, and even safer than twin-engine aircraft.

There are several statistics to prove that a single-engine aircraft like this one provides superior safety. For example, in cases of accident related to engine failure, fatalities are four times more likely to occur with twin-engines. This is because unbalanced thrust makes twin-engine aircraft much more difficult to handle.

When you fly in a PC-12, you don’t have to worry about accidents. Engine failure is extremely rare, and when it does occur, this aircraft can easily be landed safely without incident.

Speed & Range

The Pilatus has a maximum cruise speed of 285 knots. Normally, you can expect to be cruising at 268 knots. For a more economical cruise, you can bring it down to 209 knots.  While these speeds do not compare with those achieved by jets, they are impressive for a single engine aircraft.

The aircraft has a maximum range of 1,845 nautical miles. In terms of operating altitude, your limit is about 30,000 feet.

Cabin Features

The Pilatus PC-12 aircraft holds a maximum of 10 people. This includes two crew members and 8 passengers.

The pressurized cabin has several features to make your flight as comfortable and convenient as possible.  These include air conditioning, a private bathroom, and rear club seating, which has writing tables on each side of the aisle.

Wifi is available on some PC-12s although ours are not equipped with it.  However, onboard catering can be provided upon request.

As mentioned previously, the baggage area is accessible during the flight, so passengers can access their belongings as needed.

Performance

The Pilatus plane is designed to give an exceptionally smooth ride, providing maximum comfort for passengers.

It has a high-lift wing, which allows it to perform excellently on short-field flights. It’s able to land on very short runways, on grass, and even in icy conditions.  The PC-12’s unique landing capabilities allow this plane to take you to some exotic destinations that aren’t accessible via jets and other larger commercial aircraft.
